Bauchi State Government has kicked off the June 2025 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) in Bauchi, with the aim of immunizing over 2.2 million eligible under-five children in the state.
The kick-off ceremony took place at the Miri Community Centre along Jos Road, Bauchi Local Government Area, and was attended by various stakeholders, including health officials, development partners, civil society organizations, community leaders, and representatives of various unions.
The Bauchi State Health Commissioner, Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam, stated that the state government has put in place comprehensive plans for a successful immunization exercise, providing children with life-saving vaccines against child-killer diseases.
He stressed the need for immunization to protect children’s health and reduce deaths, charging parents and caregivers to ensure their children are immunized.
The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, revealed that the National Immunization Plus Day is a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing routine immunization for every child.
The exercise is expected to run for four days, with immunization teams effectively covering schools, markets, and health facilities.
The Mirii District Head, Alhaji Hussaini Abubakar Uthman, praised the NIPDs initiative, believing it will contribute significantly to the state’s progress in achieving immunity and protecting the health of its citizens.
He urged the state government to improve healthcare facilities and upgrade community primary healthcare centers.
Goodwill messages were received from representatives of WHO, Gates/Dangote Foundations, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
