The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has reaffirmed his support for routine polio immunization and urged parents to bring their children aged 0-59 months for polio vaccination.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the June 2025 Outbreak Response Campaign on Immunization for Polio-Virus Type 2 (cVPV2) in Sokoto, the Sultan emphasized the importance of prevention over cure.
“It costs less to prevent than to cure.”
“Let us work together to build a world where no child suffers the consequences of parental neglect.” The Sultan said.

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by his deputy Mohammed Idris Gobir, expressed gratitude to donor agencies for their support in healthcare delivery.
The governor assured that the state remains committed to eradicating polio and strengthening primary healthcare services.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Umar Faruk Abubakar, confirmed that all necessary logistics are in place for a smooth exercise.
Representatives from UNICEF, WHO, and the Bill Gates Foundation expressed their commitment to a polio-free world and urged parents to immunize their children against killer diseases.
