Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno
By ANIEFIOK UDONQUAK, Uyo –
Akwa Ibom State Government has ended a three-day prayer summit intended to ensure a period of meaningful development and to usher Governor Umo Eno into the third year of his administration.
Eno has recorded modest strides to mark his second anniversary but the achievements were overshadowed by the mixed reaction that trailed his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor has defended his defection, saying it was meant for the state to connect with ruling party due to his deep admiration of President Bola Tinubu.
The achievements included the renovation of schools, health centres, construction of roads and the payment of the backlog of pensions and gratuities among others
Speaking during the prayer summit held at the international worship centre in Uyo, the state capital, Eno solicited cooperation to sustain the peace and unity existing in the state.
“For coming out in good numbers for us to gather here for three days as a State to pray and hand over to God the commencement of the affairs of our third year in office, I am most grateful. Thank you.
“This is indeed the spirit of a united Akwa Ibom which we have greatly utilized to pray for the peace and prosperity of our State. What we mostly needed in our State is peace, and peace can only happen where there is unity – unity of purpose.
“For us in government, we will continue to stay united to pursue an excellent accomplishment of the ARISE Agenda. That is what is most important.
“We have received all the prayers and all the prophetic words that God has declared upon our State that, by His grace, nations will come to the brightness of the light of Akwa Ibom State.”
The Governor assured that the State will continue to pray and work for a conducive and peaceful environment for nations to come as, according to him, nations would only go to where there is peace and comfort.
“Let us not take God’s blessings in this part of the country for granted. Let us continue to pray for peace in our land and work in unity for the good of our people and our State.
“Let us respect each other’s opinion. Let us ensure that our State grows positively as a united Akwa Ibom where great things take place for others to learn from,” he said.
According to the governor, it is not every time that one must work in opposition.
“Let us all toe the path of our alignment with the government in power for our own good rather than being outside the government as opposition, to our detriment.
“I strongly pray and believe that at the end of it all, we would all thank God that our common decision to move the State forward was truly worthwhile and rewarding.
Preaching on the theme “Nations will come to your light, and Kings to the brightness of your dawn,” drawn from Isaiah 60:3, Apostle Emmanuel Nuhu Kure of Throneroom Trust Ministry, Kafanchan, Kaduna State, admonished Christians and people of the State to stand firm with the Lord to realize and sustain the light and glory of God upon the State.
Apostle Kure, who made series of prophetic declarations for the state, prayed, blessed, and pronounced the commencement of the third year in office of Governor Umo Eno.
Earlier in his opening charge on the topic: “Understanding the light and brightness that attract nations and kings to us” taken from Matthew 5:1-16, Rev. Emmanuel Iniama, General Overseer of Achievers Assembly, also known as Precious Faith International Church, Eket, identified character as a major factor in shaping the actions and affairs of men.
Rev. Iniama admonished the people to exhibit good character, to treat, particularly, their subordinates, with respect and love, as character deficit is worse than budget deficit, stressing that the rise or fall of a man is traceable to his character.
The prayer summit which featured sessions of praise, worship, choir renditions, song ministrations, intercessory prayers, was graced by members of the State Executive Council, the clergy, the political class, dignitaries, and Christian faithful within and outside the State.
