The Acting Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr.Emmanuel Agema has sought to partner with the Operation Whirl Stroke for effective performance.

A statement by the Media Assistant to the BIRS Chairman, Jacinta Benard, said Mr. Agema said this on Wednesday during a visit to the office of Operation Whirl Stroke in Makuridi.

While appreciating the Commanding Officer for giving them audience, the statement quoted the Chairman as explaining with dismay the dismantling of BIRS legal checkpoints by the operation Whirl Stroke at Kastina Ala, stating that BIRS has 16 Gazettes Monitoring and Inspection Points cut across the state with each BIRS Staff wearing BIRS Customized Jacket

The BIRS Chairman also notified the command of the incessant presence and ferocious activities of hoodlums and racketeers who barricade the roads harassing and extorting money from unsuspecting public.

The tax boss lamented that the activities of some notorious hoodlums who prevent foreign investors from investing in the state, cause untold hardship, pains and sufferings to the Benue people and generally affects revenue generation.

He solicited for support from the Command through provision of security personnels who would work with BIRS team to stop the activities of these illegal checkpoint operators inorder to create a safe place for the Benue people and an enabling environment for smooth business transactions.

In his response on behalf of the Commanding officer who was unavoidably absent during the visit, General Abubakar appreciated the team for their visit and pledged the support of the command to the service in eradicating illegal road blocks in Benue State.

According to him, further investigations would be carried out and reverted back to the service regarding dismantling BIRS Monitoring point at Katsina Ala. Ibu
