As a deliberate measure to enhance revenue generation in Benue State, the Acting Executive Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr.Emmanuel Agema has extended synergy to Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency (BEQA).
A statement by the Media Assistant to BIRS Acting Executive Chairman, Jacinta Benard on Friday, said the collaboration was sought for during an interface with the Director General, Benue State Education Quality Assurance (BEQA) and his team at the revenue house.
The meeting according to the Media Assistant was aimed at discussing Synergy between the duo and modalities on closure of unapproved and substandard schools in the state through the collaboration of the two agencies.
The Chairman, the statement informed, pointed out that, the enforcement of the exercise is pertinent to purge the state off Substandard schools, ensure quality education through the capturing and approval of schools by the agency and most importantly, the capturing of new schools will bring more schools into the tax net while boosting the tax profile of the state.
The BIRS Boss pledged his unalloyed commitment and support to the Alia’s administration for educational development through policies of quality education and assured to support the agency with full chest.
The Internal Auditor of the service, Mr. Joseph Asase, while commenting lauded the DG and his team for their audacious commitment to the educational sector and encouraged them to be relentless and untiring in their bid to providing quality education to Benue People.
The Board Secretary and legal adviser, Ushahemba Dekaa who welcomed the team and moderated the meeting, commended them for the developmental and progressive initiative.
Earlier in his remarks the Director General, Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency, Dr.Terna Francis who appreciated the Chairman for the tremendous work done in BIRS, also revealed that, due to the recertification exercise carried out by the BEQA, it has been discovered that over 6000 Schools operating in the state, only 539 schools have been captured while most of the schools are unregistered and unapproved.
He solicited for synergy with the Benue State Internal Revenue Service to enable them carry out the exercise successfully noting that the exercise would be of optimal benefit to the service as it would increase revenue generation.
