Kidnappers abduct acting rector of Benue Polytechnic, others demand N70m ransom

The Acting Rector, Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Barki has been kidnapped on his way to Ugbokolo after an official assignment in Makurdi.

The Acting Rector was abducted by yet to be identified gunmen with some management staff of the polytechnic and their driver.

It was gathered that the abductors moved them away from the highway and reportedly abandoned the official vehicle of the polytechnic.

NATIONAL ACCORD checks have it that after twenty four hours of waiting, the abductors called the family of the Acting Rector and demanded for seventy million naira as ransom.

The early callers to the family of the Acting Rector, including the immediate past Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Augustine Akpen Leva and the Benue Correspondent of the NATIONAL ACCORD, Mr. Samuel Tyav prayed for the immediate release of the Acting Rector.

Dr. Leva called on the Benue State Government to improve on the security situation of the state to enable the Benue people and even the travellers go to places of their choice without been victims of kidnappers.
