
Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla visits Nigerian Navy troops in Borno

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, to assess the security situation in the region following a recent Boko Haram terrorist attack on a naval base.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the attack killed scores of soldiers and injured several others, who are currently receiving treatment at Maimalari Cantonment hospital.

During his visit to the hospital, Ogalla consoled the wounded troops and promised to address their problems and provide them with sophisticated weapons and equipment to clear the Lake Chad Basin region of terrorists.
“We will provide more security in the lake Chad region and ensure availability of adequate farmlands for the residents of the area to farm and fish peacefully and successfully,” he said.
Ogalla also held a closed-door meeting with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri, where they discussed the security challenges in the region.
The Naval Chief assured the governor that the Nigerian Navy would continue to cater for the troops and provide them with necessary equipment and weapons to restore peace in the Lake Chad Basin region.

The CNS was accompanied by the Theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdullahi Abubakar, and other top military officers during his visit.
