Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum
The eagerly awaited revival of cross-border water trade between Borno State and Chad is gaining traction after Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s recent inspection of the Baga Fish Dam in Kukawa Local Government Area.
During his visit, Zulum reviewed progress on the extensive dredging and widening of the water canal, a major initiative led by the Borno State Government to restore the crucial trade route along the Lake Chad corridor.
Addressing the media, the Governor highlighted that reactivating this trade link is projected to generate over one million jobs and strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and Chad, delivering significant benefits to communities along Lake Chad’s shores.
Zulum also commended the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Defence Staff, and other security agencies for their vital contributions to stabilizing the region, paving the way for the safe resumption of agricultural and commercial activities.
