Students stone female classmate to death in Sokoto, set her ablaze for insulting Prophet Mohammed

The irate attackers in the Sokoto College of Education, who went berserk, roasted the Christian female student, identified as Deborah Samuel.

Students of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto are reported to have stoned and burnt their own colleague to death for allegedly blaspheming Islam prophet.

According to a report by Peoples Gazette, the irate attackers, who went berserk Thursday afternoon, roasted the Christian female student, simply identified as Deborah.

It was learnt that she was accused of passing unflattering comments about Prophet Mohammed on campus.

Following immediate threats to her safety, she was immediately evacuated to the security post of the school, according to a student who witnessed the development and passed its preliminary details to Peoples Gazette.

The mob however pursued her to the security post and overpowered the personnel there, according to the source.

There has not been any detailed report about the student’s information, but a video has already circulated online showing how the student was set alight.

When contacted, the Sokoto Police spokesman, Sanusi Abubakar, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), declined comments about the incident.

The Provost of the College, Wadata Hakimi, could also not be reached for comments on the incident at the time of this report.

Established in 1970 and located in Sokoto State capital, the Shehu Shagari College of Education is a state government higher education institution with affiliation to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto for its degree programmes.
