Coco Gauff has made history by battling back from a set down to defeat world number one Aryna Sabalenka and claim her second Grand Slam title at the French Open.
The 21-year-old American showed remarkable resilience, coming from 6-7 (5/7) down to win 6-2, 6-4 and lift the coveted trophy.
This victory marks Gauff’s second major title, following her win at the 2023 US Open, where she also defeated Sabalenka.
The match, played over two hours and 38 minutes, saw Gauff dig deep to overcome the Belarusian’s powerful game, which faltered under the pressure of the windy conditions.

Sabalenka, who was aiming to become the only current women’s player to win three of the four Grand Slam events, made 70 unforced errors, paving the way for Gauff’s dramatic comeback. With this win, Gauff moves 6-5 ahead in their head-to-head record, proving herself to be the more consistent player.
The win is a sweet redemption for Gauff, who had lost to Iga Swiatek in the 2022 French Open final.
Gauff’s victory sets her up as a force to be reckoned with in the tennis world, and her rivalry with Sabalenka is sure to heat up in the coming months.
