The Conference of Autochthonous Ethnic Communities Development Association (CONECDA) Youth Wing has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting to the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill, describing it as a long-overdue step toward addressing the region’s developmental challenges.
In a statement signed by its National President, Comr. Paul Joshua Dekete, and National Youth Coordinator, Comr. Peter Abin Bahu, the youth wing expressed gratitude to the President, the National Assembly, and all stakeholders involved in the bill’s passage.
The group also urged the president to appoint competent individuals to manage the commission effectively.
The statement reads: “We receive with great joy the news of the assent given to the North Central Development Commission Bill by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
“This development is highly commendable, as the new commission will facilitate the improvement and speedy development of the North Central region, which has suffered neglect in infrastructure, human capital development, and environmental concerns over the years.”
The youth wing further appealed for credible leadership within the commission, stating: “We appeal to Mr. President to appoint competent hands that will run the affairs of the commission toward achieving its set objectives in the interest of our people.”
Reaffirming its commitment to national development, CONECDA Youth Wing pledged to support policies that promote growth and progress. “As the youth wing of the socio-cultural organization representing the indigenous ethnic communities in the region, we assure you that we shall continue to support policies that foster the development of our people, the region, and the entire country,” it stated.
