The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 196 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 158,237
As at Saturday (6th, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded ten (10) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1964 deaths.
The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.
It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 158,237 confirmed cases, out of which 137,645 had been discharged.
The public health agency also noted that the new infections were reported in 17 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 195 new cases are reported from 17 states- Lagos (70), Kaduna (22), Abia (20), Edo (18), Kano (10), Akwa Ibom (9) Rivers (7), FCT (7) Borno (6) Bauchi (5), Osun (5), Oyo (5), Plateau (3), Ekiti (3), Niger (2), Ogun (2) and Zamfara (1).
The health agency also noted that it recorded 282 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
The NCDC said that there were now 18,628 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,544,008 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.
It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
