
National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that the average retail price for diesel dropped to N1,789.45 per litre in July 2025, down from N1,813.81 in June 2025, according to its Diesel Price Watch report released in Abuja on Friday.
This reflects a 1.34% decrease month-on-month. However, compared to July 2024’s average of N1,379.48 per litre, the price surged by 29.72% year-on-year.
State-by-state analysis showed Benue recording the highest average price at N2,341.46 per litre, followed by Adamawa at N2,163.88 and Plateau at N2,029.71. Ondo State had the lowest price at N1,465.71, with Zamfara and Gombe close behind at N1,470.35 and N1,485.00, respectively.
Zonal data indicated the South-South region faced the steepest prices at N1,941.98 per litre, while the South-West enjoyed the lowest at N1,619.06.
