The State’s Commissioner of Youth Empowerment and Sport Development, Hon Saina Buba disclosed this on Friday during the monthly payment of Empowerment and Social Intervention Funds to over 1,195 blind persons in Maiduguri.

Hon. Buba, disclosed that early this week, the ministry paid the sum of N15,000 to N20,000 each to over 2,877 youths, 418 deaf/leprosy persons and other 415 physical challenged persons in the state.

Recalled that the Governor Babagana Zulum’s led administration, since inception had embarked on various empowerment and social intervention programs in the state, which is a deliberate attempt to discourage street begging and to address the root causes of insurgency which is not limited to poverty and unemployment.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries applauded the governor’s efforts and promised to reciprocate by praying for the peace and security of the state and nation at large
