Electoral Act: APC governors are afraid of e-transmission of results, says Wike

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike

PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has blamed the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the controversial Electoral Act into law.

Governor Wike alleged that “the APC governors are afraid of the idea of electronic transmission of results that is why they are advising the President not to sign the bill into law.

He stated this on Saturday in Calabar during the PDP campaign flagged off for candidates contesting for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency.

According to him: “February 26th byelection in Cross River State is a must win for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”.

“I can go home and feel fulfilled that Cross River State is PDP. What I was told that they don’t want you to hold the rally, if you do not hold this rally then PDP is finished”

“I am going to give you more support, they tried it in Rivers in 2015 and we resisted them”

“Ordinary By-election, you (APC led administration) are stopping people from holding a rally”, the governor fumed.

He, however, pledged to support the state in conducting a free and fair byelection.

Earlier, The PDP State Chairman of (PDP) Vena Ikem assured the people that the party will reclaim the State from the APC.

Other dignitaries at the event include former Governor Liyel Imoke, former Deputy Governor Efiok Cobham, Ekpo Okon, among others.
