
Prominent opposition figures from across the country are converging in Ibadan today for a high-level national summit focused on strengthening democratic governance.
The gathering, taking place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Oyo State, brings together leaders of major opposition political parties under a shared goal of building consensus and collaboration ahead of future political engagements.
The summit, themed “ _That We May Work Together for a United Opposition to Sustain Our Democracy,”_ is designed to address pressing national concerns, particularly the country’s economic strain and persistent security challenges.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is chairing the event, lending significant weight to the discussions, while Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is hosting the gathering.
Organisers said the meeting is intended to foster unity among opposition blocs and encourage coordinated strategies capable of reinforcing democratic values in Nigeria. The summit is also expected to produce actionable resolutions aimed at enhancing political cooperation and presenting a credible alternative voice in national discourse.
