Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has officially endorsed eTranzact International Plc as a certified provider for its nationwide e-invoicing initiative, building on their prior collaboration in VAT automation under the Tax Administration 2.0 framework.
Head of Corporate Communications at FIRS, Adeyemi Opene, announced on Thursday that this approval solidifies eTranzact’s role as a key ally in the government’s efforts to digitize tax and business operations.
“The FIRS e-invoicing platform, known as the Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS), streamlines digital invoicing for B2B, B2C, and B2G transactions, promoting efficiency, compliance, and transparency in Nigeria’s economy,” Opene explained.
Acting Director of Tax Automation at FIRS, Mike Adoga, emphasized that certified providers like eTranzact were selected for their robust nationwide service capabilities, stringent security measures, neutrality, and scalability.
He noted that the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) provided critical technical expertise to ensure the platform’s reliability.
Chief of Staff to the FIRS Executive Chairman, Tayo Koleoso, highlighted the meticulous selection process, stating, “NITDA’s involvement was pivotal in enhancing data security and cybersecurity, ensuring taxpayers can trust the platform’s transparency and safety.”
Managing Director and CEO of eTranzact, Niyi Toluwalope, described the e-invoicing initiative as a transformative opportunity.
“This certification reinforces our commitment to being the leading integrated financial technology platform for merchants and consumers.
E-invoicing goes beyond compliance—it’s a chance to revolutionize business-government interactions, delivering transparency and value to all stakeholders,” he said.
eTranzact’s involvement builds on its history of supporting tax automation. Since 2017, under Tax Administration 2.0, the company collaborated with FIRS and major banks to implement an API system for secure VAT and withholding tax reporting via TaxPro Max, setting a benchmark for digital tax transparency. The company also supports broader government needs, such as deploying a verification system for the Military Pensions Board in 2024, enabling seamless identity authentication for pensioners globally.
Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria since 2003 for switching, processing, and mobile money operations, eTranzact continues to provide secure, scalable payment solutions across industries. Through this e-invoicing rollout, the company is advancing FIRS’s mission to implement a globally competitive yet locally tailored digital invoicing system.
