ExxonMobil has named Jagir Baxi as the new Chairman, Managing Director, and Lead Country Manager for its Nigerian affiliates, including Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited and Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Offshore East) Limited, succeeding Shane Harris.
With extensive experience in global energy operations, Baxi is poised to steer ExxonMobil’s Nigerian ventures toward sustained growth.
“I am deeply honored to lead our talented Nigeria team and build upon Shane Harris’s impactful legacy,” Baxi stated.
“My focus is on strengthening partnerships with the Nigerian Government, NNPCL, venture partners, contractors, and local communities to unlock Nigeria’s vast offshore deepwater potential.”
Baxi highlighted Nigeria’s promising oil and gas sector, noting, “The combination of Nigeria’s improving investment climate, existing deepwater assets like Erha and Usan, and the nation’s exceptional talent positions us to advance the country’s energy ambitions through ExxonMobil’s global expertise.”
Prior to this role, Baxi served as Executive Director for Production across ExxonMobil’s Nigerian operations. Since joining the company in 1999, he has held senior roles in deepwater and LNG projects across Australia, Angola, Iraq, Qatar, Papua New Guinea, and the United States, specializing in operations, joint venture management, and project startups. An Australian national, Baxi holds graduate degrees in Engineering and Science from Monash University and an MBA from Melbourne Business School.
