Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has officially approved UAC of Nigeria Plc’s acquisition of CHI Limited, the makers of the popular Chivita and Hollandia beverage brands.
UAC confirmed the regulatory greenlight on Saturday in a disclosure filed with the Nigerian Exchange Ltd., marking the completion of a transaction first announced in July this year.
> “We are pleased to have received regulatory approval for this transaction. We look forward to a smooth transition under UAC’s ownership,” said Eelco Weber, Managing Director of CHI Ltd.
CHI Limited is a major player in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, best known for household beverage names like Chivita and Hollandia.
The move signals a major expansion in UAC’s food and beverage portfolio, aligning with its long-term growth strategy.
> “We are delighted to officially welcome the Chivita|Hollandia team and brands into the UAC family,” said Fola Aiyesimoju, UAC’s Group Managing Director.
“Together, we will build on their strong legacy and market leadership.”
The acquisition is expected to strengthen UAC’s market share in Nigeria’s competitive food and drinks industry while unlocking new value for both brands under a unified corporate structure.
