Former ADC National Chairman ignorant of court’s sack

Former National leader of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu

Ralph Nwosu, former National Chairman of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) says he has yet to receive the court judgement sacking him from office.

Nwosu told a news conference on Thursday in Abuja that whole thing was news to him.

“We respect institutions, we are a very disciplined party, but for now, the party does not have any paper from the court on the judgement and would therefore not want to speculate on the issue.

“We are yet to get any judgement paper from the court and therefore can’t speculate on the issue,” he said.

Nwosu said that he still regarded the story of his purported removed by a court as speculative, as it had no empirical backing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, nullified the executive committee of ADC led by Nwosu.

Justice Binta Nyako in her ruling, also affirmed the reliefs sought by the Sen. Patricia Akwashiki-led group of the ADC that the defendants did not dispute the claims of wanting to extend their tenure, and as such the claims were deemed admitted.

The court further held that the ADC was bound by its Constitution and therefore, the actions taken by the defendants were unconstitutional, null and void.

The court also said that the actions were of no legal effect whatsoever and ordered a special convention for the position of the party’s national chairman and members of its National Working Committee (NWC).

The party ahead of the court ruling, had been in a running battle with its expelled presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu who was accused of anti party activities.

Nwosu said although much may not had been heard about the party, it had been consistent and working from the background.

He said while the party may currently not have a presidential candidate for 2023 presidential election, it had 1,411 candidates contesting for other elective positions at different levels.

He said the target of the party was to win seven strategic state governorship positions and 25 per cent of other elective positions across the federation.

He said that the party would not be distracted by moles planted it to destroy it.

Nwosu added that the party was working with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to submit names of its returning officers for the 2023 general election.

“We don’t want to be diverted, we have 1,411 candidates contesting the coming elections at different levels across the federation.

“We have also sent our agents to INEC for training on uploading election results and had been in constant touch with the commission,” Nwosu said.

He added that with time, the party may decide to adopt any of the leading political party’s presidential candidate since it does not have a presidential candidate for 2023.(NAN)
