Forum of the Clergy of Tiv Extraction (FCTE) has condemned the gruesome murdered of a clergy, Rev. Abah Jacob, and his wife Mirrian Abah Jacob with several others by Ichen militias at Mararaba in Donga Local Government Council, Taraba State.
The forum also appealed to Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas to direct security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and brought them to book.
The chairman of the forum in Gashaka LGA, Rev. Ven. Nathaniel Saawua, made the call in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday.
He stressed that, Rev. Abah Jacob, until his murder, was a pastor with The African Church, Kyado Archdeaconry, posted to The African Church Adi Parish in Bali Local Government Council, Taraba State.
Rev. Abah Jacob left his station with his wife, Mirrian and son, Kumator, a sucking baby of less than a year on Wednesday 13th March, 2024 as early as 4:00 am for his home town, Tor Ayaba, Ukum Local Government Council, Benue State. The journey he would neither reach his destination, nor return.
The pastor who was not just killed with his wife but their body was burnt beyond recognition by there assailants, while information about their son Kumator is yet to ascertain whether he is alive or dead.
The statement disclosed that the corpses of Rev. Abah Jacob and his wife Mirrian were dumped at Mount Zion, a private school established within Mararaba town.
Rev. Saawua reiterates that the murderous incidence that claimed Rev. Abah Jacob and his wife, also claimed the lives of not fewer than seven other harmless, innocent Tiv commuters who were killed by the same militias between Gemkwe and Mararaba on Donga road.
However, those who are victim of Ichen militias attacked are, Michael Ukari (m) from Sabon Dale,; Terundu Michael (f) from Sabon Dale; Terna Orya (m) from Iorashe, Sansani; Erdoo Aluga (f) – from Gazabu ; Rev. Jacob Abal (m) from The African Church Adi, Bali; Mirrian Abah Jacob (f) from The African Church Adi, Bali,; Jacob Ternenge (m) – from Ugbayongo, Pangri; Msega Joseph Mvihi (m) – from Ugbayongo, Pangri; Aondofa Member (f) – from Ugbayongo, Pangri.
According to the statement, the militias attacked left many people with several injuries” and It is most pathetic to know that those who sustained injuries but divinely escaped, were admitted at the General Hospital, Bal”, it disclosed.
“While we draw the attention of the authorities concern to this pathetic and unfortunate situation, we want to call on spirited individuals who are touched by this incidence to come to the aid of these victims and the bereaved by providing succour to them to alleviate some of their physical and emotional pains”.
