FUK matriculates 3448 students, to establishes 3 studies centers

The Federal University Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State has introduced seven new degree programmes for the 2020/2021 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Umaru A. Pate disclosed this at the10th matriculation ceremony of the university held during the weekend.

“A total of 3,448 students comprising of 2,319 males and 1,129 females were administered with the oath of matriculation”, Professor Pate said.

He added that the newly-introduced programmes include: Procurement Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Public Administration, Mass Communication, International Relations, Marketing, Library and Information Science.

The VC further said that the commencement of the courses followed the approval granted to the university by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

He also revealed that the univerrsity has commenced the process of establishing a College of Medical and Health Sciences to enable the institution run degree programmes in Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

“To this end, the management has constituted a committee of eminent experts to study and advise on the most effective modalities for achieving our objectives in the shortest possible time,” Pate said.

He further explained that the university has applied to the NUC for the establishment of three specialized centres on research and training for conflict, peace and gender studies.

While others include centres for sugar research, environmental and climate studies, noting that, all the centres will commence before the end of this year.
