
Chief Paddy Kemdi Njoku
Burial Committee for the late Chief Sir (Dr) Paddy Kemdi Njoku, KSS, KSJI, popularly known as Omenukoaku, has announced the official programme for his funeral, with burial scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
Chairman of the Burial Committee, HC. Engr. (Dr.) Johnny O. Chukwu, speaking on behalf of the Njoku family, disclosed the details in a statement issued on Sunday, outlining a series of funeral activities to be held in Abuja and Imo State to honour the life and legacy of the late elder statesman.
Dr. Njoku, a distinguished administrator, accomplished professional, respected community leader and devout Catholic knight, died in May 2026 at the age of 75.
According to the funeral programme, the activities will begin with a Requiem Mass on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja.
A Service of Songs and Night of Tributes will follow on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Boardwalk Fun City, Plot 1001, Ibrahim Tahir Lane, Utako, Abuja. The event is expected to bring together family members, friends, professional colleagues, associates and admirers to celebrate his life and contributions.
The final funeral rites will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, beginning with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Okwunakuwa, Uvuru, Aboh-Mbaise, Imo State. He will be laid to rest immediately after the church service.
The Burial Committee called on friends, associates, community leaders and well-wishers to attend the ceremonies and honour the memory of the late Dr. Njoku.
In the statement, the committee said: “The Burial Committee has extended an open invitation to friends, professional colleagues, associates, community leaders, and well-wishers to join the family in paying their last respects to a man whose life was marked by service, integrity, faith, and an unwavering commitment to humanity.”
It further noted: “As family, friends, and admirers gather to bid him farewell, they will celebrate the remarkable life and lasting legacy of Chief Sir (Dr) Paddy Kemdi Njoku, KSS, KSJI, Omenukoaku; whose legacies and contributions will continue to inspire generations to come.”
