Goal Prime launches 2nd season of Lafiyarmu Jarinmu radio programme

Goal Prime Organization Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian Humanitarian Fund (NHF) have launched the second season of Lafiyarmu Jarinmu scheduled from May 2023 to November 2023.

The programme which is being aired on Al-Ansar FM Radio 96.1 on a hour-long live sessions broadcast that bring specialists and professionals from the health sector to contribute to the discussion/conversations which links and engages the public through responses to audience questions and concerns.

The Programme Lead, Sa’id Sa’ad Abubakar, said the Goal Prime Organization Nigeria launched the second season of Lafiyarmu Jarinmu to Improve Public Health and Hygiene In North East Nigeria through strategic media programme.

It will be recalled that in the first season, topics around personal hygiene, vaccination, cholera, mental health and menstrual hygiene were the centre of conversations.

After the successful implementation of the Lafiyarmu Jarinmu Health and Hygiene Radio Programme last year, a 7-month Live Radio programme offered weekly discussion on subjects of public health and hygiene was implemented.

He added however, that the second season is a project aimed at expanding various other important health and hygiene concerns based on the issues at hand.

It is also targeted at trying to expand the quality and relevance of the programme to the local communities.

The Programme Lead, Sa’id Sa’ad Abubakar who is lo the Communication for Development (C4D) Officer, Goal Prime Organization Nigeria said; “In the second season, we introduced a monthly sanitation kits distribution exercise where we will reward a community every month – after the monthly sanitation established by the state government – with sanitation kits.”

” This is to motivate communities to focus on sanitation activities in their localities while complementing the effort of the state,” Sa’ad said.

The WASH Manager, Goal Prime Organization Nigeria, Mr. Shintoho Aondover also said; “We are happy that the programme has provided us with a platform to engage with communities in their own local languages with subjects of public health and hygiene promotion. So far we have reached thousands of listeners, and we are doing more to engage more people.”

Adding to the concept of sustainability, Mr. Shintoho said; “We are deeply committed to fostering sustainable social and behavioural change that directly enhances the well-being of individuals in their daily lives, with a particular focus on health and hygiene.

” Our unwavering determination lies in establishing ourselves as a trusted platform, renowned for consistently disseminating reliable health information and advocating effective hygiene practices.

” By empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions, we are collectively working towards a healthier future.

” We firmly believe that our efforts will continue to shape and transform lives, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this impactful project,” Shintoho said.

Commenting on the project, the Goal Prime Organization Nigeria Country Director, Dr. Chris Chinedumuije said; “It is part of our collaborative partnership with the support of NHF to implement a project that respond to the needs of the most affected communities especially in north-east Nigeria.”

“As an organization, we at Goal Prime are making sure that we contribute to communities having access to basic healthcare and Lafiyarmu Jarinmu is one of the medium.”

“Lafiyarmu Jarinmu is aired weekly every Friday 4:00pm at Al-Ansar Radio in Borno State, and on Radio Garden for listeners outside the state,” Chris said.
