Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has commended the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency Dauda Lawal, for his unwavering goodwill and consistent support to his alma mater, describing it as a model for all alumni.
Prof Ahmed said Governor Lawal’s remarkable contributions to ABU exemplify gratitude, generosity, and purposeful leadership, making him a reference point in alumni institution relations.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Gusau, the Vice-Chancellor noted that Governor Lawal’s commitment to the university transcends rhetoric, reflecting his genuine attachment and sense of responsibility to the institution that shaped his leadership journey.
“We are deeply grateful, not only for this warm reception, but also for your numerous and unsolicited acts of support to Ahmadu Bello University,” he said.
He added that Lawal’s humility, openness, and deep respect for the university had continued to endear him to the ABU community, noting that the governor’s exemplary leadership in Zamfara State was restoring hope and redefining development in the region.
“Your Excellency, Zamfara has often been described as a state of missed opportunities, just as our dear country, Nigeria, has at times appeared as a nation of unfulfilled dreams. But your administration’s strides in the last two years, your courage, vision, and focused leadership stand as a powerful affirmation that change is possible,” Prof Ahmed stated.
He assured the governor of ABU’s readiness to partner with his administration in key areas such as education, research, policy formulation, and technical collaboration to drive sustainable development in Zamfara State.
In his response, Governor Dauda Lawal expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the visit, pledging to continue supporting Ahmadu Bello University.
The governor said the Vice-Chancellor’s words of encouragement would further inspire him to deepen his commitment to both the university and the people of Zamfara State.
He acknowledged ABU’s immense contributions to national development and promised to continue drawing from its pool of expertise to strengthen governance and human capital development in Zamfara.
“I am fully aware of the university’s challenges and will always be available to contribute to its progress,” Lawal assured.
