Insurgency: COAS commends troops for successes recorded in North East

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Umar Farouq Yahaya, has commended the 305 officers and soldiers of 402 Special Forces Brigade for the successes recorded in clearance operations at the Sambisa, Tumbuktu Triangle, Tumbus and Mandara mountains among others.

COAS gave the commendation while addressing the SF Brigade 20 officers and 285 soldiers during his operational visit to the 402 Special Forces Brigade at Chabbal village located in outskirts of Maiduguri City.

The COAS said: “I bring you greetings from the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, President Muhamnadu Buhari, the Service Chiefs. We are all impressed and proud of the success recorded in the ongoing operations in the Theater.”

“For those who choose to remain in the bush, we will surely get them. The Special Forces treatment; what you have seen here yesterday speaks for itself. I am sure with what we are doing, by the grace of God, victory is ours. As our motto: “Victory belongs to God, Insha Allah, victory is ours.

“I want to on behalf of the President, the Service Chiefs appreciate you. I want to particularly commend the synergy between the Armed Forces, sister security agencies, NSCDC, the CJTF and any other stakeholders for the synergy, cooperation and team work, which has yielded these successes”.

“We will not hesitate to improve on your welfare and operational prowess. I also appreciate all the armed forces . Together we shall move and defeat the terrorists. We shall continue to work together. I look forward to more good results”, he said.

The Army Chief, however, reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces in conjunction with the other security agencies would live up to the expectations of Nigerians by dealing with the adversaries of the nation.

“I pledge Nigerian Army loyalty and commitments to ensure the country is better. Sometimes we have challenges but that will not deter us . Gentlemen combatants, keep up the morale,” Yahaya said.

The COAS later inspected senior staff quarters building , warehouse and a guest house at the Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.
