Joao Pedro
Chelsea have moved quickly to tie Joao Pedro down to a new long-term deal after the Brazilian forward signed a contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2032.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the documents have been approved, with Joao Pedro also handed an improved salary as part of the fresh agreement. The deal further includes an option that could extend his stay beyond 2032.
The move is hardly surprising given how quickly the Brazilian has gone from new arrival to one of Chelsea’s most important attacking figures.
Joao Pedro only joined the Blues from Brighton in July 2025, but he needed little time to announce himself. He scored twice against Fluminense on his full debut before adding another goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final, helping Chelsea lift the trophy.
His first season in west London only strengthened that impression, with the forward ending the 2025/26 campaign as Chelsea’s leading scorer with 20 goals across competitions. He has also carried that form into pre-season, scoring seven times in five friendlies, including a brace against Real Sociedad.
For Chelsea, the new contract is therefore more than a routine reward. It sends a clear message about where Joao Pedro fits into the club’s plans as the Blues continue to build a young side around players they believe can deliver for years rather than months.
It also gives Chelsea greater control over one of their most valuable attacking assets at a time when his performances are likely to attract increasing attention.
For Joao Pedro, meanwhile, the improved terms are recognition of just how quickly his Chelsea story has taken off. What began with a move from Brighton has now turned into a long-term commitment, with the Brazilian firmly positioned as part of the next chapter of the Blues’ project.
