Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Sokoto State Command has re-arrested an international terrorist who disappeared from its custody in Sokoto State.

The Sokoto State Commander of NSCDC, Mr. Mohammed Saleh-Dada disclosed this on Friday while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Sokoto.

Mr. Saleh-Dada said the prime suspect identified as Alhaji Koire was arrested alongside an accomplice, Buba Magaji at a forest in Silame LGA of the state.

He said the suspects, who are notorious in their trade, have over 200 fighters terrorising the Local Government Areas of Tureta, Dange Shuni and parts of Silame in Sokoto state.

“They also operates across border to Niger Republic, and other countries for their nefarious activities”, he said.

Commandant Salah said he personally led the NSCDC operatives that arrested the suspects, a major feat which was achieved in the first month when he assumed duty as the NSCDC commander in Sokoto State.

He said: “We succeeded in arresting a very notorious bandit that has his own camp of more than 200 men.

“We arrested same man the first month I assumed duty in Sokoto State but we did not have the intel that he is diabolical hence within moments, he disappeared into thin air from our grip. But Alhamdududilah, we are able to rearrest him in the bush of Silame local government area, Sokoto state.

Continuing, Mr. Saleh-Dada noted that some of his accomplices called to offer 10 million naira for his release.

He said: “We accepted the offer so that they can come over and be arrested to add to the numerical figure of those arrested in connection with such crimes but unfortunately, maybe they read the signs and never showed up”.

“I can assure you that those arrested are high profiled bandits. And if more investigation is conducted, they might be linked to the Al- Ansaru because of his influence in the bush”.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that Ansaru is one of the Al-Qaeda linked terrorist group called “al-Ansaral Muslimeen fi Bilad Al Sudan” that have been accused of carrying out various terrorist attacks in the North West states in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in their confessions, Buba Magaji said he only participated in kidnapping twice alongside Alhaji Kwoire.

He further admitted that he was aware of banditry operations they carried out in Kurdula and Dabagi in Dange Shuni LGA, where they collected 1 and 4 million naira respectively as ransom.

“Buba further divulged that he was led into the act by a foreigner who rears camel in their village and provide AK 47 for their operations”.

He however added that he has repented before his arrest.
