Authorities of Kebbi State University Aliero have closed down the university following the gruesome murder of a 400-Level Biochemistry student, Shamsudeen Sale in a mob action.

Spokesperson of the University, Malam Hussaini Adamu Zuru, who disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday said the murder of Sale plunged students of the university into a rampage resulting to blockage of the highway leading to Sokoto State.

Zuru who said the deceased was murdered by some residents of Aliero town explained that, trouble began when the deceased bought a cellphone and the sellers did not get a credit alert even after the deceased claimed he had effected a transfer.

According to Malam Adamu Zuru, the deceased returned to the seller with a view to sort out the issue, when the people around started calling him a thief which triggered a mob action that eventually led to his death.

The Public Relations Officer of Kebbi State Police Command, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident but said he was yet to get the details of what transpired.
