Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has launched the distribution of 25 data capturing machines and printers to strengthen the National Identity Number (NIN) registration process across Taraba State.
The equipment, procured by the Taraba State Government to support the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), was officially presented on Friday, February 6, 2026, during a ceremony held at the TY Danjuma House.
Speaking at the event, the governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to improve access to identity registration for residents and ensure wider participation in the national identity system.
The initiative marks the first time the Taraba State Government has provided such large-scale operational support to NIMC, a move expected to significantly expand the commission’s capacity to capture more residents into the national database.
The Taraba State Coordinator of NIMC, Mrs. Serah Babangida, expressed appreciation to the governor for the intervention.
She described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that the newly supplied equipment would greatly improve the commission’s ability to enroll residents into the national identity database.
According to her, the programme represents a major step forward in collaboration between the state government and the commission, while also reflecting a strong commitment to inclusive governance and digital identity expansion.
The initiative also aligns with the Federal Government’s broader efforts to build a robust digital public infrastructure, aimed at ensuring more Nigerians are captured within the national identity system.
