Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas
Amid rising tensions and conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States in the Middle East, the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has urged Christians to place their trust in God despite growing global economic uncertainties.
Kefas made the call while preaching at the 2026 Annual Convention and 10th Anniversary celebration of the Global Baptist Mission held at the Unity Global Baptist Mission Church in Kusuku, Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Delivering his message on the opening day of the conference, the governor preached from Psalms 62:5–8 with the theme: “ _Almighty God Is Our Rock in Times of Trouble.”_
He reminded the congregation that God remains the most reliable refuge during difficult moments and encouraged believers to constantly seek His guidance and support.
Kefas urged Christians to maintain unwavering faith in God in every situation, noting that many people often drift away from their faith when faced with hardships.
According to him, trusting in God positions believers to receive divine help and blessings.
“When God is the rock of the people, they enjoy divine coverage that guarantees protection and intervention,” he said.
The governor also encouraged the congregation to emulate the faith of the biblical King David, who overcame many challenges through his steadfast trust in God.
In his welcome address, President of the Global Baptist Mission, James Fongong, commended the governor for what he described as significant developmental efforts on the Mambilla Plateau.
He highlighted the establishment of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action in Gembu, the state’s free education policy, and improvements in peace and security as some of the notable achievements of the Kefas administration in the area.
However, Fongong also pointed out challenges confronting the community, particularly the need for improved healthcare services and the completion of the road leading to Gembu.
