The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has enjoined corps members to channel their talents and potentials towards enthroning a more united, prosperous and productive nation that would not only focus on consuming but also manufacturing.

The minister gave this charge at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course, held at the Kubwa Orientation Camp Abuja.

Mahmoud, used the occasion to admonish corps members to be peaceful and law abiding as they step into FCT communities for their primary assignment, stressing that their peaceful conducts would draw the people to love, accept and support them throughout their service year.

“My charge to you therefore, is that you put in your best and future generation will speak well of you,” she stressed.

While stating that security of lives and property remain paramount in the agenda of the FCT Administration, she, however, assured of the administration’s determination to continue to provide the necessary peaceful environment for corps members in all their service locations.

In her words, “Nation building and socio-economic developments are twin areas of vital importance to the country. The FCTA trusts that you, as future leaders, will channel your talents and potential towards enthroning a more united, prosperous and productive nation that will not only focus on consuming but manufacturing too.

“In that spirit, I urge you to imbibe the SDGs and accept your postings in good faith and settle down quickly in order to contribute to the growth of the nation”.

Earlier, the FCT Coordinator of NYSC Mrs. Shokpeka Winifred, said that this set of corps members have been posted according to their areas of discipline and specialization across the six area councils of the FCT based on the posting policy of the NYSC.

She called on employers to ensure judicious utilization of all corps members posted to them, stressing that employers should be conversant with the NYSC policy and guidelines as this would enable them carry out their functions as expected.

According to her, “my motherly appeal to you is to settle down in your respective places of primary assignments and contribute your quota to the development of our great nation, through execution of viable and laudable community development service projects.”

Recall that the orientation course which commenced three weeks ago, featured competitions in sports, drama, drills, talents among others, exposes the corps members to a profitable independent life thereby reducing post service unemployment.
