Modeling the next generation, By SAMMANTHA ADDINGI

Dear Reader,

I would like to share with you my thoughts on modeling the next generation.

Please share your thoughts with me in the comment box. I would love to read from you.

Growing up with my grandma, I learnt a lot from her. Though she was a stark illiterate, she had a lot to teach and learn from.

One of the things she taught me is hard work. She was an entrepreneur and her businesses were not popular amongst women, for example, transportation. She had big busses and her transport business was called Lomilamu. Yes, she acquired wealth and if she was alive today, she would be a billionaire. She was the first lady to drive a Jaguar in Nigeria.

She also taught me to be a giver and to be compassionate.  She gave like mother Teresa: We visited the motherless homes, she distributed salah meat to poor communities. She was selfless and a role model.

If we want to see the desired changes in our nation, we must model the right values to the next generation.  We must teach them the truth that will make them free.

To be hard working pays and being compassionate is rewarding.  These two values should be core in every home.

Until you read from me again, show compassion to people around you.  Remember charity starts from home.
