Two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) pilots are alive after an Alpha Jet went down near Karabonde, a quiet community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday evening.
The incident was first brought to public attention by Lapai TV, a local digital broadcaster, which posted a short update and video clip on its official Facebook page.
The platform announced: “Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.”
No further details about the pilots’ condition or circumstances surrounding the crash were provided.
Although residents in the area said they saw smoke rising from the scene, the cause of the aircraft’s distress remains unclear. A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows thick plumes drifting into the sky, leaving locals worried and speculating about what might have gone wrong.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Air Force has not issued an official statement confirming the crash or offering insight into what led to the incident.
Despite the uncertainty, the survival of both pilots has brought a sense of relief, even as Nigerians await clarity from military authorities on what happened and the status of the aircraft.
