Nasarawa State House of Assembly has assured teachers affected by the alleged employment scandal of recovering their money from the former Chairman, Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Mohammed Gada, and others involved.
The assurance was given by the Chairman of the ad hoc committee investigating the scandal, Mr. Daniel Ogazi, when the affected teachers appeared before the committee in Lafia.
Ogazi sympathized with the victims and assured them of the assembly’s commitment to ensuring that justice was done. “We want to assure you that justice will be served at the end of the day,” he said.
“We invited you to tell us what you know, tell us who gave you the appointments and how much you paid to get the job. Be sincere as you are speaking on oath.”
The committee has directed the former TSC Chairman to re-appear on Wednesday by 10:00 am to clear his name based on submissions by some of the victims.
Ogazi also directed the Commissioner for Education to bring other staff members involved in the scandal to appear before the committee.
Some agents, including Mr. Yamush Amos and Mr. Adigizi Abaya, testified before the committee, revealing their roles in the scandal.
Amos tendered bank tellers to support his submissions, while Abaya disclosed that he paid N14 million for 28 applicants into his account without getting appointment letters.
The affected teachers, including Sanke Priscilla and Ibrahim Abdulkadir, confessed to paying between N500,000 and N1.7 million for the appointments.
They pleaded with the House to help them recover their money.
