Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Escravos has taken a decisive step against oil theft, dismantling six illicit refining sites in the Obodo Omadino Community of Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.
This was revealed by the Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, in a statement issued Friday in Warri.
According to Capt. Okoloagu, the coordinated operations took place between October 2 and October 6, leading to the seizure of roughly 11,200 litres of stolen crude oil.
“The FOB Escravos has deactivated six illegal refining sites at Obodo Omadino Community and seized approximately 11,200 litres of stolen crude in a series of coordinated operations,” he stated.
The stolen crude was found hidden across 28 dugout pits and six polythene sacks, with security personnel also recovering a pumping machine during the raid.
Okoloagu emphasized that the crackdown was part of the ongoing Operation DELTA SANITY II, made possible by actionable intelligence and in alignment with the strategic vision of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, aimed at curbing illegal activities across Nigeria’s waterways.
Reaffirming the Navy’s resolve, he added that the Base remains fully committed to protecting the nation’s oil infrastructure and combating economic sabotage.
