NDE trains 50 Sokoto youths, women in goat production

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has began one week training for 50 participants on goat  production business knowledge such as meat, milk, hide and skin as well as manure from the droppings.

Addressing participants at he Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, venue of the training, the State Coordinator of NDE, Malam Ibrahim Faisal Audu said the training is a new scheme designed  to launch into the immense employment potentials in goat production business.

The Coordinator, who was represented by the Head of Human Resources Department, Malam Luckman Abubakar assured participants that they will earn income, have improved livelihood and create employment for others via the goat production.

Malam Abubakar said the scheme will further help in reducing  poverty, rural/urban migration, as well as provide raw materials for leather manufacturing industries and enhance protein intake in the populace.

He therefore appealed to participants to remain committed to the training.

In his opening remarks, Sokoto State NDE Head of Rural Employment Department, Malam Sirajo Yusuf  thanked the Federal Government for supporting  the numerous noble initiatives of the NDE which is geared towards mass employment.

On his part, Malam Faruk Abdulkarim, an Agricultural  Officer from Abuja, who represented the Director Rural Employment Promotion Department, Mr Edem Allem said the scheme will play an important role in the social economic value chain.

He also added that REP has been strongly supportive in the mandate of empowering unemployed Nigerians to be self-reliant.

In his advise to participants, Dr Musa Dalhatu, the Director, College of Agriculture, Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic urged participants to consider themselves very lucky to have been selected from amongst many for the free training.

According to Dr Dalhatu, the the institution has very capable lecturers that will coach them on how to make the best of the goat production value chain.
