Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Manu Garba as the Head Coach of the national U-17 men’s team, the Golden Eaglets, and Moses Aduku as the Head Coach of the national U-20 women’s team, the Falconets.
According to a statement released on Friday by Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Head of Communications, both coaches will assume their roles on Sunday, ahead of crucial upcoming competitions.
Manu Garba previously led the Golden Eaglets to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, securing Nigeria’s fourth title in the tournament.
He has also coached the team on two subsequent occasions, including qualifying them for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
“Garba had earlier guided the team to win the FIFA U17 World Cup trophy – for the fourth time in the nation’s history, at the United Arab Emirates in 2013” (Ademola Olajire, NFF Head of Communications).
Moses Aduku, a prominent figure in women’s football, has earned acclaim for his successful tenures with Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens.
He served as assistant coach for the Falconets during their quarter-final run at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
“Aduku is highly respected in women’s football coaching, having led Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens football clubs with distinction in recent years” (Ademola Olajire, NFF Head of Communications).
The Falconets are preparing for a 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in September, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B U17 Boys Tournament, which Nigeria will host in the same month.
