Nigeria records 709 new Covid-19 infections, 157,671 total cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 709 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 157,671.

As at Thursday (4th, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded twelve (12) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1951 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 157,671 confirmed cases, out of which 136,335 had been discharged.

The public health agency noted that the new infections were reported in 21 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 709 new cases are reported from 21 states- Adamawa (180), Lagos (141), Ondo (60), Anambra (54), Rivers (41), Taraba (33), Edo (30), Abia (22), Kaduna (22), FCT (21), Akwa Ibom (20), Kano (20), Plateau (11), Ekiti (10), Kebbi (10), Nasarawa (10), Bayelsa (7), Ogun (5), Osun (5), Oyo (5), and Gombe (1)

The NCDC said that there were now 19,385 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,544,008 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
