The Nigerian Navy has announced the arrest of a popular Instagram comedian, Cute Abiola for breaching the Armed Forces Social Media Policy and refusal to obey particular orders”.
Cute Abiola, real name Abdulgafar Ahmad, is a naval personnel.
A statement on Wednesday by Navy spokesman, Suleman Dahun, said contrary to speculations, he is not missing.
Dahun explained that Ahmad is in the custody of his unit for “breaching the Armed Forces Social Media Policy and refusal to obey particular orders”.
The Navy reminded its personnel to comply with the provisions of military rules in their usage of social media platforms.
Dahun said the policy is emplaced “to protect their safety and security as well as the information integrity of the activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria”.
