President Bola Tinubu has appointed popular Nollywood actor Ali Nuhu as Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC).

The presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this in a statement on Friday.

The Gombe-born thespian is expected to take over from Dr Chidia Maduekwe, who is serving his second term as Managing Director of the NFC.

Nuhu is a renowned actor, businessman, and philanthropist, who has won several national and international awards.

Nuhu, popularly known as ‘King of Kannywood’ for his prominent roles in the Hausa films subsector, known as Kannywood, is acclaimed to have featured in over 500 Nollywood and Kannywood films.

He has played key roles in some Nollywood blockbusters, such as Banana Island Ghost, Diamonds in the Sky, and Shanty Town, where he played the role of the Chief’s Lawyer.

He is widely regarded as one of the most influential actors in the Nigerian film industry, especially in the Hausa cinema, in terms of appearance, fans and networth.

Ten other appointments were made by the president of Chief Executive Officers under the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy.

They include Dr Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director, National Film and Video Censors Board; Mr Tony Akerele, Director-General, National Theatre and Obi Asika, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture.

Others are Aisha Adamu-Augie, Director-General, Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture; Ekpolador-EbiKoinyan, Chief Conservator, National War Museum,

Also appointed are Ahmed Sodangi, Director-General, National Gallery of Art; Chaliya Shagaya, Director-General, National Institute of Archaeology and Museums Studies; Hajiya Khaltume Bulama-Gana, Artistic Director, National Troupe of Nigeria.

Otunba Ajiboye is now Director-General, National Institute for Cultural Orientation and Ramatu Mohammed, Director-General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments. NAN
