Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has denounced the attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu area of Kebbi State, where 25 female students were kidnapped and a school official reportedly killed.
Speaking in Gombe on Monday, the forum’s chairman and Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, described the incident as “tragic, senseless and utterly unacceptable.”
A statement from his media aide noted that Yahaya warned that persistent assaults on schools pose a serious threat to both regional stability and the nation’s educational future.

Yahaya, speaking on behalf of all Northern governors, extended condolences to the Kebbi State Government and the affected families, assuring Governor Nasir Idris of the forum’s full support during what he called a deeply distressing time.
He stressed that schools should remain safe spaces for learning rather than battlegrounds, cautioning that repeated attacks risk undoing progress made in boosting school enrollment and tackling the out-of-school crisis.
Expressing concern for the abducted girls, Yahaya urged security agencies to launch a “well-coordinated” operation to rescue the students and bring the attackers to justice.
He reiterated the NSGF’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and security institutions, emphasizing that the safety and welfare of young Nigerians remain a top priority.
The governor also called on communities to stay vigilant and support security efforts aimed at rooting out criminal elements across the region.
