Women and children displaced by the recent violence in Plateau State
By CHRISTIANA LOT, Jos –
The Women Without Walls Initiative (WOWWI) has condemned the recent killings in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, which claimed the lives of dozens of residents and left many others traumatized.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Apostle Esther Ibanga, the group described the attacks as senseless and deeply inhumane, noting that the violence has caused untold suffering to families and communities in the affected areas.
The group expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and extended condolences to the affected families and communities.
The statement read, “We are deeply saddened and outraged by the recent killings in Bokkos, which have claimed the lives of innocent citizens and caused untold suffering. The senseless violence is not only a tragic loss of life but a stain on our collective humanity.
“We strongly condemn these heinous acts and call on the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice. The lives lost in Bokkos are irreplaceable, and their families deserve both justice and support in this difficult time.”
The organization further called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property in Bokkos and neighboring communities.
“We urge the government and security agencies to increase efforts to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the area and prevent further violence,” it added.
WOWWI also stressed that the issue transcends local boundaries, warning that the normalization of such atrocities would erode national values and threaten peace and coexistence.
“This is not just a local issue but a national concern. It is vital that we come together to denounce all forms of violence and work towards a society where everyone can live free from fear.
“We call on all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, while also advocating for a collective commitment to peace and justice.”
The group reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Bokkos and expressed hope for healing and restoration in the community.
“We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and the people of Bokkos in their grief and demand accountability. The cycle of violence must stop, and all efforts should be focused on restoring peace, security, and justice.
“We as Women Without Walls Initiative stand united in our call for an end to the violence in Bokkos, and we remain hopeful that with collective action, peace will prevail. Evil will never prevail over good,” the statement concluded.
