PSG player, Achraf Hakimi has been ordered to stand trial in France over an alleged rape dating back to 2023
.
According to Sky Sports, investigating judges have referred the Paris Saint-Germain defender to a criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine after a three-year judicial investigation. A date for the trial has not yet been set.
The case stems from a complaint filed in February 2023 by a 24-year-old woman who alleged that the Morocco international raped her at his home in a Paris suburb.
He was formally placed under investigation the following month after prosecutors opened preliminary inquiries under French law.
Hakimi has consistently denied the allegation. He maintained his innocence and believes the court process will allow the facts to be examined publicly.
His lawyer, Fanny Colin, is expected to appeal the decision to send the case to trial, insisting her client contests the accusation. Counsel for the complainant, however, reportedly welcomed the move, describing it as consistent with the evidence gathered during the investigation.
Despite the legal cloud, Hakimi has continued to feature for Paris Saint-Germain in domestic and European competitions.
The case is expected to draw significant attention as it moves through the French criminal justice system.
