Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere
Member representing Ideato Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has seen tremendous success in his effort to raise ₦50 million from friends and associates to support families of victims of the recent terror attack in Ideato, Imo State.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that in less than three weeks, over ₦45 million has been raised for the Ideato Support Fund.
“Since neither the state government nor the local government offered assistance to the victims’ families – three weeks after 26 people were killed – Ikenga took it upon himself to personally support the families and also drag his friends and associates to contribute to the intervention fund”, GDF Media Director, Charles Okafor, said in a statement on Monday.
Mr. Okafor said the support will primarily benefit orphans, widows, and families of victims slain during the attack; helping them rebuild their lives, while also aiding communities affected by the crisis.
He said the funds will provide additional support to families of victims in Umualaoma, Ndi Ejezie, Ndiakunwata, and Akokwa communities.
The media director noted that Hon. Ugochinyere took the initiative to personally support the families and mobilize his friends and associates to contribute to the intervention fund after neither the state government nor the local government offered assistance to the victims’ families three weeks after 26 people were killed.
He further said mdalities for distribution of the funds will be made public once the targeted amount of ₦50 million is achieved.
