In the wake of the tragic and brutal killings in Umuolaoma and Arondizuogu, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative for Ideato Federal Constituency, visited the grieving communities to offer condolences and demand urgent action.
The horrific massacre has left residents in shock and mourning, prompting the lawmaker to call for justice and robust security measures to protect the region.
“I was deeply shaken this morning by the shocking news of the heartless killing in cold blood of our brothers and sisters,” Hon. Ugochinyere said, his voice heavy with grief.
“My heart bleeds as I mourn with the people of Umuolaoma and Arondizuogu, whose loved ones were brutally murdered.”
Standing among the bereaved, Ugochinyere condemned the violence in the strongest terms, describing it as an “atrocity that has left our communities in pain and anguish.”
He urged both state and federal governments to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
“We demand justice for the victims and their families,” he declared. “This cannot go unpunished.”
To address the growing insecurity, Ugochinyere proposed the formation of a vigilante squad comprising local residents, police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel.
“This joint effort will ensure that our communities are protected and that those who seek to harm us are brought to justice,” he explained.
He also emphasized the need for enhanced security measures, including local intelligence gathering and seamless collaboration with law enforcement to stay “one step ahead of these terrorists.”
Residents of Ideato expressed gratitude for Ugochinyere’s presence and commitment. “His coming here shows he feels our pain,” said Chinyere Okoro, a local resident who lost a relative in the attack.
“We need leaders like him to fight for us and ensure this never happens again.”
Ugochinyere also called for financial empowerment for the local government to sustain security efforts, including investments in infrastructure, equipment, and personnel.
“We will not rest until justice is served and our communities are safe,” he vowed.
“I stand with our brothers and sisters in Umuolaoma and Arondizuogu, and I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard.”
As the communities of Umuolaoma and Arondizuogu begin the painful process of healing, Ugochinyere’s visit has brought a glimmer of hope.
“May God comfort the families of the victims and grant us peace in this time of sorrow,” he said, reaffirming his dedication to securing a safer future for Ideato.
