The Technical Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Mr Solomon Iorpev, has said the security of the lives and property of Benue people would remain on the priority list of the state government as he insisted that every Benue life matters.
Mr Iorpev, who disclosed this in a statement in Makurdi said the Governor Alia led Government is interested in the security of lives of the people of the state.
The Technical Adviser noted that it was pertinent for all Benue sons and daughters home and abroad to throw their weight behind Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia as he moves to tackle security challenges head-on, adding that matters of insecurity in the state would soon become a thing of the past.
According to him, matters of security especially the methodologies are not matters hastily discussed in the open neither does a progressive government put out in the public the step by step measures planned to actualize peace and stability in a region.
“What I can tell you is, the executive governor of the state is passionate about the welfare of his people and is working round the clock to provide security for them.”
Iorpev informed that the state government has engaged in comprehensive stakeholder dialogue to curb the insecurity situation in the State, the reason he believed there is relative peace today.
He revealed that “Security agents are being deployed constantly to unstable areas to stop escalations in crisis prone areas and in most cases nip them in the bud.
“He has inaugurated security outfits across the State to respond to crisis situations where they may arise. We have the Mining Marshals, Agro Rangers, etc
“Most of the insecurity situations pre-dates this administration, however that has not deterred him from handling it head-on.
“We are here to proffer solutions and not make excuses and so, while His Excellency is studying in details along with his security team to come up with the right measures to take in some situations, (security being a delicate matter) agents are working round the clock to secure lives and property in the State.
“Whilst insecurity has become a global issue and is not unique to Benue State alone, the assurances you should have are that, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is working round the clock as the chief security officer of Benue state, to secure every life and property and is surmounting every challenge thrown at him in this direction, one step at a time.
He urged the Benue people not to forget that the Governor’s natural calling is Priesthood which entails rehabilitating people and prompting them to live good and meaningful lives, to live peacefully with one another and be their brother’s keeper.
“So rehabilitating Benue citizens who consciously or unconsciously have fallen into criminality is not far fetched for him.”
