Senate has confirmed the nomination of Chibudom Nwuche as Chairman and Usoro Akpabio, daughter of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) Board.
Alongside Nwuche and Akpabio, 16 others were confirmed as board members, including Larry Odey (Cross River), Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa), Dr. Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom), Chika Chinedu (Rivers), Femi Oise (Edo), and Dr. Charles Sylvester Enukhowhate (Delta).
Others confirmed include Tabitha Iliya Sallah (North-East), Yusuf Rasaq Amao (North-Central), Joseph Mmamal (South-East), and Mr. Bukonola Braimoh (South-West).
The Senate also confirmed several executive directors, including Marcus Nie Eji (Rivers) for Projects, Aganaba Preye Steven (Bayelsa) for Social and Human Capital Development, Dr. Timi Alari Ayibatonye (Delta) for Corporate Services, Joseph Ugheoke (Edo) for Commercial and Environmental Development, and Sony Abang (Cross River) for Finance.
Chairman of the Committee on SSDC, Senator Kenbowei Friday, presented the committee’s report, stating that the nominees “have sound academic qualification, work experiences, competencies and integrity required for appointment as chairman, managing director and members of the board of SSDC”.
He added that there were no adverse security reports or petitions against the nominees and that they demonstrated a sound understanding of the commission’s mandate.
