Sharp drop as Nigeria records 240 new Covid-19 infections, 2 death

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 240 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 155657.

As at Sunday (28th, February, 2020), the public health agency also recorded two (2) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1907 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 155,657 confirmed cases, out of which 133,768 had been discharged.

The public health agency said it has tested 1,489,103 people since the index case was announced on Feb. 27 last year.

The agency noted that the new infections were reported in 13 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 240 new cases are reported from 13 states, as follows: Anambra (85), Lagos (82), Osun (17), Ogun (10), Kwara (9), FCT (8), Kano (7), Abia (6), Ekiti(5), Borno (4), Edo (2), Bayelsa (2) Kaduna (2) and Rivers(1).

The NCDC stated that 170 people have been discharged from the various isolation centres in the last 24 hours.

The health agency noted that those discharged on Sunday included 170 community recoveries in Lagos State, which were managed in line with NCDC guidelines.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities nationwide.

The NCDC said that there were now 19909 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours. (NCDC)
