He does not have to die of Coronavirus like his over 200 thousand compatriots. He does not even have to lose his November 3 presidential election because of the virus. That could make the Chinese guffaw with derision. The biological Third World War would have been won and lost. The Russians could also chuckle by the sidelines: this talkative giant has succumbed so easily. The Judeo-christian church in the 3rd world could look confused; this last defender of their faith was not invincible afterall.
With his new status, along his wife, Melania, as a COVID 19 patient, Trump only needs to learn one lesson. At 74, he needs to learn what I was taught at age seven in my catechism class. He needs to learn that God is supreme and there is human being like him. He needs to know that men or wealth and power are not God. That they only hold sway for a brief period of time. It is unwise to mock the unlucky ones. Perhaps a man so demonstrably oblivious of the supremacy of God in the human society, could have at least yielded to the efficacy of science in governing modern times. But no.
Trump is completely a man of the world bereft of spiritual and scientific rules. His world is a world of human supremacy of which he seeks to dominate his America like an imperial white supremacist king. He envies Vladimir Putin and the Chinese president Li, who cannot be controlled or regimented by established democratic institutions in their domains. But for a universe torn by prejudice, the likes of Donald Trump do not get the desired rest of mind until they look down on people’s heads. They suffer from a sickness called megalothymia. . Our world is immanently devastated with protean cocoons and otherness. Everybody craves for a certain identity and thinks of it as superior to the other. There’s a fierce clamor among the races, tribes nations, genders, lineages and even siblings in the unending quest for supremacy. Our world is stratified in a duality between the civilized and the primitive; the rich and the poor; the whites and the blacks; the first world and the undeveloped world and so on.
These same divisions are replicated at micro corcumstances from where individuals of material wealth excel and dictate the pace. However, the problem is not even with the so called superior individuals. It is with the pathetic victims of this great divide, the very ones cheerleading and rationalizing the exploits by the superior group. They do this in the name of religion. They tell us God divinely arranged these inequities for the purpose of proving how good and evil could be rewarded.
I personally see contradictions where others see symmetry. So is Trump really infected by the virus? How was it possible for the Chinese virus to defy the protocol and serenity of the Oval Office where the tangible and the intangible elements of nature are monitored by the best scientific devices of our time? What about the mask – wearing venerable old man, Joe Biden? Is he really the weak vulnerable sleepy Joe, Trump says he is? This God must have an acute sense of humor.
Now that Donald Trump is seen to be human, it must dawn on all doubting Thomases that God alone superintends in the affairs of men and women of all categories. He chooses who to live or die, who to be rich or poor, who to have a night in a cosy hotel or at a ghostly hospital or who to win or lose an election. There is absolutely no shame in being human. Donald Trump thought he was something else, but since yesterday, he must have thought otherwise.
